There is good reason to believe they are giving you sound advice, but that doesn't mean you are actually going to accept and follow their advice. The number one recommendation most doctors give is that if you smoke you should quit. Not only does smoking lead to serious cancer, it compromises your health in many other ways. Your smoke could be hurting your family as well. It's quite a hurdle to quit smoking, but you need to keep trying until you succeed. Your life and possibly your child's life depends on it You can also remain healthy by reducing the amount of processed foods you consume. This will keep your weight down, overall energy levels up, reduce the amount of toxins in your body, and lower the sodium levels. If you have high blood pressure, there is a high possibility you have high sodium levels. To reduce the sodium levels you just need to cut down on your salt intake. Your body needs salt to function so don't cut it out completely. Instead eat more natural unprocessed foods and add some salt if needed. That's much better than consuming the sodium rich processed foods you will feel much better and your heart will thank you. Another message that seems to have been around since the beginning of time is to exercise and to keep moving. This could be a hard one for some people who have jobs which require them to stay in the office for a long period of time. As you have the opportunity get up and walk around, take the stairs instead of an elevator, and park far away when you are going somewhere. Take a walk during your lunch hour or after you get home from work. Join a gym if you truly believe you would use the membership, otherwise find a partner who will work out or walk with you. You each will have a job to keep one another on track. Getting up to work out is much easier when you're accountable to somebody. Once you get into the routine of exercising, you'll find your energy levels increased and you'll feel much better about yourself. Keeping a positive attitude in your life can also help you remain healthy. If you're a always gloomy and depressed, you are likely not to take care of yourself very well. It leads to poor eating habits and lack of exercise. Keep this up and you may not live as long. Don't be afraid to consult a professional for help if you're always feeling sad. Do your best to see the good things in every situation to help keep a good mental balance. You can plan for the worst outcome in life, but you should hope for the best.
