Candida, often also referred to as yeast infection or thrush, is a common problem that affects many people all over the world. It can be uncomfortable, annoying, and even quite painful so obviously people are always keen to find ways to treat it. There are many different types of remedies that are available including effective medical options. Most treatments tend to focus on short term relief so there is often a significant chance that the problem will come back again at some point. This is why there is an increasing focus on using natural candida treatments that can provide a long term solution with limited side effects. Candida is caused by an overgrowth of fungi that naturally occurs in the body. There are various reasons that this can happen including as a result of the body's immune system being disrupted from sickness or powerful treatments (such as chemotherapy to treat cancer). Candida can also grow too much from an overuse of antibiotics which try to destroy bacteria that is causing an illness but which can also be killing off all the 'friendly' bacteria at the same time. It is this 'friendly' bacteria that usually limits the candida yeast from multiplying to excess and from mutating into pathogenic forms. It should be noted that some level of candida in the gut is actually beneficial for your body as they restrict the 'bad' bacteria growing in the intestinal tract. So it can be a difficult balancing act happening within your body as you want some bacteria but not too much that it creates problems. There are a few things that can easily upset this balance and these include not eating regularly. Skipping meals can actually be a problem although overeating can be as well. Once again, balance is the key. If you eat the wrong foods you could also be encouraging candida to grow exponentially. It is worth implementing a holistic diet and you should regularly drink an appropriate amount of water (approximately 5 - 7 glasses per day depending on your body weight) Other causes that can lead to growth of candida include using oral contraceptives, stressful conditions, not getting enough sleep, and living in damp environments. Some Natural Candida Treatments You should adopt a long term approach and really look at the root causes of the problem. Take some time to really assess your life and see if there are areas that you can make it more balanced.
